About Me

I'm Namit.

A mechanical engineering student at the University of Washington, with an interest in how things work and how to make them work better.

Mechanical design, robotics, and manufacturing are the parts of engineering I keep coming back to. I enjoy taking a challenging problem apart, working through the details, and turning a design into something I can build and test.

The project pages tell the technical stories. This page is a little more about the person behind them.

From a problem to a working design

How I approach engineering

  1. Break down the problem

Identify the requirements, constraints, and smaller pieces that need to work together.

  2. Design and prototype

Develop the geometry, build a prototype, and check the design's assumptions.

  3. Manufacture and assemble

Think through how parts will be made, fitted, and brought together.

  4. Test and iterate

Use physical testing to find what needs to change, then improve the next version.

A few other interests

I like taking photographs on my phone and exploring new places. I also enjoy casual hiking and bouldering, and spending time with friends.

Consumer electronics are another interest. I enjoy keeping up with new technology and watching consumer-tech videos.
